Fermentation Technician (Level II)

Location: Indianapolis, IN

 

Xylogenics Overview: Xylogenics is a fast paced biotechnology company incorporated in 2009 to provide innovative product solutions utilizing the many benefits of modified yeast microorganisms. Our corporate vision and business objective is to utilize our expertise in engineering yeast to synthesize commercial chemicals from a wide portfolio of renewable environmentally friendly feed stocks. Our current market focus is in the fuel ethanol arena.

 

Responsibilities: We are expanding our foundational team to include a new Fermentation Scientist within our Analytical Services organization. This position will require mastery of shake flask fermentation modeling and general laboratory operations support. We anticipate some level of on the job training. We would also expect the optimal candidate to be enthusiastic and diligent in understanding Tableau and migrating fermentation data into the Tableau environment.

 

Basic Qualifications: (1) B.S. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field with 3+ years in an academic or commercial research laboratory. (2) Candidate must have direct experience with lab operation, organizing experimentation, maintaining detailed notebook and experimental troubleshooting. (3) Preparing samples and running HPLC equipment.

 

Additional Qualifications: (1) Qualified candidates should demonstrate their ability to function independently, and within a team setting, in a rapidly evolving R&D environment. (2) Direct experience with microbial fermentation and graphical analysis is a plus. (2) Demonstrated flexibility to adjust activities and re-prioritize time to meet project goals, (4) it is paramount that a successful candidate will have excellent commutation and organizational skills, (5) the candidate should have a solid understanding of data generation and processing.

 

Looking Forward Expectations: Within the first six months of employment candidates should be able to (1) master our fermentation modeling process, (2) understand Xylogenics work flow and sample handling procedures, (3) demonstrate a working knowledge of other areas of Xylogenics R&D focus, including strain engineering and yeast physiology, and begin mastery of Xylogenics graphical and analytical techniques using Tableau.

Fermentation Technician (Level I)

Location: Indianapolis, IN

 

Xylogenics Overview: Xylogenics is a face paced biotechnology company incorporated in 2008 to provide innovative product solutions utilizing the many benefits of modified yeast microorganisms. Our corporate vision and business objective is to utilize our expertise in engineering yeast to synthesize commercial chemicals from a wide portfolio of renewable environmentally friendly feed stocks. Our current market focus is in the fuel ethanol arena.

 

Responsibilities: We are expanding our foundational team to include entry level Fermentation Technician within our Fermentation modeling and Analytical Sciences division. This is an entry level position. The candidate will be responsible for general laboratory assistance in setting up corn mash yeast fermentations, making buffers, data transfer, sample handling. Secondary responsibilities will include similar support to the Microbial Engineering and Strain Development departments. We anticipate on the job training concerning our fermentation modeling procedures.

 

Basic Qualifications: B.S. in biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field with 1-3 years’ research experience in an industrial or academic setting. The candidate should have a solid working knowledge of structure of research lab and understanding of scientific method, sample handling, data generation and processing.

 

Additional Qualifications: (1) Qualified candidates should demonstrate their ability to function independently in a rapidly evolving R&D environment.
